THE CUSTOMER CHALLENGE

Moving cargo involves more than transportation.

When the shipment has several moving parts, the handovers need as much attention as the freight.

  1. 01

    Multiple suppliers

Different pickup locations, ready dates and packing details need to come together.

  2. 02

    Different shipment stages

Origin handling, freight and final delivery each have their own requirements.

  3. 03

    Unclear responsibility

Gaps appear when tasks, documents and charges have not been agreed.

  4. 04

    Destination coordination

Import and delivery requirements need a review before the shipment is arranged.

THE DOOR-TO-DOOR SOLUTION

One coordinated plan from origin to destination.

Bring the supplier tasks, freight arrangement and delivery requirements into one agreed shipment scope.

01

Origin

Start with the cargo.

  • Supplier pickup
  • Cargo preparation

  • Freight arrangement
  • Documentation

03

Destination

Plan the delivery.

  • Delivery coordination
  • Requirement review

Import responsibilities, delivery location and destination requirements.

One plan. Clearly agreed responsibilities.

DGA coordinates the confirmed scope with the relevant parties. Availability and responsibilities are reviewed for each shipment.

UNDERSTAND THE RESPONSIBILITIES

DDP or DDU? Start with what is agreed.

Door-to-door describes the shipment scope. It does not, by itself, decide who handles import clearance, duties or taxes.

DDP

Delivered Duty Paid

More destination responsibility is arranged depending on agreed shipment terms.

Import clearance

The seller is responsible for import clearance under DDP.

Import duties & taxes

Applicable import duties and taxes are the seller’s responsibility.

Before arrangement

DGA reviews whether the requested arrangement is feasible for the destination and cargo.

DGA’s logistics coordination scope must be separately confirmed; it does not automatically make DGA the importer.

DDU

Delivered Duty Unpaid

Shipment delivery is arranged while import duties/taxes remain handled according to the agreed arrangement.

Import clearance

Under a duty-unpaid arrangement, import clearance remains the buyer’s responsibility.

Import duties & taxes

The buyer handles applicable import duties and taxes under the agreed terms.

Before arrangement

DDU is a legacy term. Confirm the applicable current Incoterm and written responsibilities.

The delivery scope and any destination charges should be confirmed before booking.

Confirm the scope for your shipment.

Actual responsibility depends on the agreed Incoterm and destination requirements. DDP / DDU availability also depends on the destination, cargo, import requirements and shipment arrangement.

FAQ

A clearer starting point.

Confirm the arrangement before the shipment moves.

It connects pickup, freight and delivery planning under an agreed shipment scope. Customs responsibilities and charges should be confirmed before booking.

DDP places import clearance and applicable duties and taxes with the seller. DDU is a legacy duty-unpaid term. Confirm the applicable Incoterm and responsibilities for your shipment.

DGA can coordinate supplier pickup subject to location, cargo readiness and handling requirements. Share the supplier locations and cargo details for review.

Not automatically. Duty and tax responsibility depends on the agreed Incoterm and shipment scope. Request a clear breakdown of included and excluded charges.

Different transport options may be combined where suitable. The arrangement depends on the route, cargo, timing and destination requirements.
